Personality
Personality: Dedalus is charming and irresistible. He uses his rakish good looks to curry favor, and people trust him because of his powerful position as Baron of Londonberry. Called by many "the Black Baron", Dedalus feigns indifference to his widespread popularity, ignoring abounding rumors that he murdered his first wife, Isabella. He is cool, calloused, and hauntingly handsome, with electric blue eyes and sharp teeth. While his youngest brother Corbin is considered the most attractive out of all four Black brothers, Dedalus is the oldest, and therefore heir to the Black Manor. He uses his affluence and wealth to seduce women and intimidate his subordinates.
Obsessed with owning the best of everything, Dedalus is a collector of rare and dangerous artifacts. He has entire rooms dedicated to the enormous array of priceless objects he's managed to get his hands on, as well as a cabinet of curiosities where he keeps mementos or trophies of things he's conquered. Along with the severed beak of a Hypogriff, a spike from the tail of a manticore, a lifeless dragon's egg, and the forearm of a sizeable giant, Dedalus has a locket where he keeps a curl of his late wife's hair.

Quirks: Dedalus can't transfigure objects into animals very well, only animals into objects. Things he can't do easily, Dedalus believes to be pointless. He never tries to improve his faults because he doesn't see them as faults. His patronus is a magpie.
Appearance
Image:
Hair: Dedalus has thick, wavy black hair that he wears shoulder-length.
Eyes: Electric blue, piercing.
General Appearance: Dedalus is not quite six feet tall, but the boots he favors add two inches to his height. As opposed to his bulky brother Adrastos, Dedalus is lean and long, like a sharpened spear. His legs, torso, and arms are spidery, and his fingers are slender for a man's. His skin is very pale, but his hair and lashes are dark, making his shocking blue eyes stand out. He looks at once alluring, yet extremely dangerous. Unlike the rest of his immediate family, Dedalus has unusual teeth that look sharper than normal. This contributes to his lupine appearance and rapacious nature.
Dedalus always wears clothes befitting of his status, going out of his way to showcase his wealth. He makes no attempt to integrate with muggle society and flagrantly sports wizarding garb no matter where he is. He wears his robes tight around him, enhancing his slender stature, and he sports silver jewelry religiously, usually inset with priceless gems and marked with the Black crest.
Unique Marks, Scars and Features: Dedalus has a thin scar running from his left cheekbone to the crook of his mouth that he refuses to discuss, but it gives him a sinister appearance.
Family
Parents:
Father: Praxis Black
Mother: Ismene Black
Spouse:
Helena Ravenclaw engaged
Siblings:
Adrastos -second born
Lykos -third born
Corbin -fourth born
Opinion On Family: Dedalus despises his brother Adrastos, who he sees as a direct threat to his inheritence. He also cares very little for his two younger brothers, although he has taken Corbin under his wing recently to avoid the displeasure of his mother. Until his father dies, Dedalus can not take control of Black Manor. He lives off the wealth of his parents and uses his title to get things he wants, pulling rank on his brothers whenever possible.
Everything Else
History: Dedalus was the firstborn son, and therefore the favorite. He grew up with the expectation that he best his brothers, being the oldest and most experienced, so he did whatever it took to achieve that. Three years after he was born, Adrastos came along, and Dedalus immediately identified him as a threat and a nuisance. On multiple occasions, he tried to kill his brother when his parents weren't in the room. A house elf finally discovered him and reported Dedalus' behavior to Mrs. Black, who dismissed the elf for impertinence and strove from then on to keep Dedalus at an arms length from his sibling.
It was difficult to compete with Adrastos, who was heavier built and naturally muscular. In any type of muggle fistfight, Dedalus would lose, but whenever such an occasion occured, he would steal his father's wand and terrify Adrastos with it, shooting sparks into his brother's face unskillfully. Dedalus made sure that Adrastos never won at anything, because if he did win, Dedalus would find a way to get even.
Lykos was born when Adrastos was five and Dedalus, eight. The boy was a sickly thing, and neither of the two eldest Blacks thought much of him. Dedalus certainly saw no need to torture the new baby, as he was so preoccupied with keeping his eye on Adrastos. For the most part, Dedalus ignored the thirdborn Black, even when forced to be in the same room as him. It was around the same time that Dedalus took up broom racing, a sport he excelled at instantly. Because of his light frame, he travelled faster and had an advantage against his competitors. On multiple occasions, he let Adrastos race him just to prove that he couldn't be beaten.
When Dedalus was ten, his mother discovered a drawer full of stolen jewelry and toys from around the house, as well as a dirty scrap of fabric and a human tooth. When asked, Dedalus shrugged and said that they were just things he'd found lying around that interested him. Praxis used the Cruciatus curse on Dedalus when he found out that his eldest son had been stealing, bellowing furiously that Blacks did not steal, because Blacks did not need to steal. From then on, Dedalus was never caught taking things that didn't belong to him again, although this may have been because he became more adept at hiding them.
When Dedalus was twelve, Adrastos nine, and Lykos four, the final Black son was born: Corbin. For the first time, Dedalus was not the favorite anymore. Corbin was a beautiful baby, with pale blue eyes and corn yellow hair. Next to the rest of the dark-featured family, Corbin looked angellic, and he was treated as such. Ismene doted on Corbin as she had never doted upon Dedalus, babying the child even after he got too old for it. Naturally, Dedalus found Corbin irritating, but no more so than the weakling Lykos.
When Dedalus and Adrastos hit puberty, a new game began that Dedalus was determined to win. Each boy would bring home the prettiest girls they could find, silently competing, but when Adrastos managed to beat Dedalus at this game one evening, new rules were established. If Dedalus saw it and he wanted it, he was going to take it. End of story. In this way, Adrastos only got second-best, which in Dedalus' mind was the way the world should be. If he thought for a moment that Adrastos was happy with whatever he'd got, Dedalus would reclaim his "leftovers".
It happened on one occasion that Dedalus brought home a pretty girl named Isabella, and he noticed immediately that Adrastos was in love with her. That night, Dedalus proposed, and the girl said yes. They were married for two years before her untimely death, and at the funeral, he watched his brother cry.
Now Dedalus is twenty-seven, Adrastos twenty-four, Lykos nineteen, and Corbin fifteen. Dedalus has found a new wife, one whose beauty and bloodline is covetable, and he will stop at nothing until he has her. Not for the first time, a woman is evading him, but Dedalus always gets what he wants. And he wants Helena Ravenclaw.
